Work ethics
Ethics can be defined as unwritten rules of conduct. It is important to have good work ethics not just towards clients, but also towards each one in the organization. The work ethics possessed shows the professionalism and indicates efficiency and success of the business.
Without work ethics it is very difficult to sustain in a job. Even though you may have great educational background or a very pleasing personality, nothing will work in your favor if you are not loyal towards your job and perform unethical activities to serve your selfish purpose.
Ethics deals with moral issues and with right and wrong behavior. It is a means of defining our moral duties and obligations with a purpose of inculcating the right, truthful and sincere behavior.
Work ethics are a set of rules and standards that are required by an employee for satisfactory work performance.
Work ethics may be of two types
- Personal
- Specific to a work situation
Some work ethics are personal i.e., a person adopts them on his or her own will, such as
- Sincerity
- Respect for job
- Regularity
- Punctuality for job
- Seriousness
Work ethics that is specific to a work situation, such as
- Keeping certain information confidential
- Maintaining cordial relations with clients and agencies that a company has
- Being prepared to take up a new job
