The process of training and development involves systematic and continuous activity with an aim to develop the required skills and knowledge of the new employee and upgrading the skills of the existing employee. It not only increases productivity but also enhances competition.
Methods of training
There can be various methods which an organization uses to train its employees. These methods are broadly categorized into two categories.
- On-the-job training: In this method the employees are trained in a real working environment by using various techniques of training such as coaching and mentoring, job rotation, special project assignment, E-learning, understudy etc.
- Off-the-job training: In this method the employees are trained away from the workplace. The various techniques used to conduct off-the-job training are special courses, case studies, role plays, conferences, sensitivity training etc.
