Test Environment Considerations

The environment for the test depends upon the strategy of the reliability test and the product to be tested. Products should be tested in an environment that reflects the environment of use if, the testing need to result in actual failure of the product thus, increasing reliability. But, if design weaknesses need to be removed then, environments in excess of normal use may be used. No reliability information can be obtained by testing units at stress levels lower than the normal use environment.
