A style consists of a combination of formats that have been named and that can be quickly applied to a selection. Normal is the default style. It sets the number format to general and controls other format settings that are applied to all entries. Examples of the six predefined styles are sown on the right. Notice the two currency styles. They will display dollar signs, commas, and two or zero decimal places, just as if we had selected these formats from the Format Cells dialog box.
Style | Example |
Normal | 89522 |
Comma | 89,522.00 |
Comma[0] | 89,522 |
Currency | $89,522.00 |
Currency [0] | $89,522 |
Percent | 89,52200% |
The style dialog displays the name of the default worksheet style, Normal, in the Style Name list box. The check boxes in the Style includes area of the dialog box, show the options that are included in this style.
The percent style setting automatically displays the value as a percent with no decimal places. To make the percentage more accurate, we will increase the decimal place setting to 2.
