Service Delivery Centers

They are ICT enabled front end service delivery points at the local or village level for delivery of government, financial, social and private sector services in the areas of agriculture, health, education, entertainment, FMCG products, banking, insurance, pension, utility payments, etc.

The location of each of the service delivery centers is decided according to the population spread so as to serve a cluster of usually one lakh population or 6-7 villages. Setting up service delivery centers across the state or region where e-Governance project is to be implemented, requires greater resource outlay as compared to other implementation options but, it provides a physical presence of personnel who not only interact but also help and make aware the local population about the E-Government project.

Further, considering the level of literacy and computer awareness implementing service delivery center usually prove more beneficial in India as compared to other implementation strategies especially in rural areas.
