A good layout can have a number of advantages and help overcome these issues:
- Operating costs rise faster than throughput: If the layout is such that the pallets are lying in the way, the costs to move them and labour costs will increase.
- Space available to conduct warehouse activities: A good layout can facilitate many activities in a proper fashion in a smaller space.
- Congestion in the warehouse: WMS cannot work properly in case of congestion
- Shipping errors and other service measurements: A bad layout can increase shipment errors and those other service measurements, such as line fill, tend to go down.
- Order cycle time significantly will decrease.
- Outside facilities ore being used: If the given warehouse is not enough, outside facilities should be used for complete customer satisfaction.
- Inventory control/management issues will become easier to handle.
