Locate, select and insert supporting information

Locate, select and insert supporting information

When creating a document in Microsoft Word, you may need to insert supporting information, such as a table, chart, or graph. Here are the steps to locate, select, and insert supporting information in MS Word:

Locate the supporting information: If the supporting information is already in another document or file, open that document or file and copy the information. If you need to create new supporting information, such as a table or chart, go to the “Insert” tab in the Word ribbon and select the appropriate option.

Select the supporting information: If you copied the supporting information from another document or file, go to your Word document and place your cursor where you want to insert the information. Then, go to the “Home” tab in the Word ribbon and click on “Paste” to insert the information. If you are creating new supporting information, such as a table or chart, you can use the tools in the “Insert” tab to create the information directly in your Word document.

Format the supporting information: Once you have inserted the supporting information into your Word document, you may need to format it to match the rest of the document. You can use the tools in the “Table Tools” or “Chart Tools” tabs to format tables, charts, and other types of supporting information. You can also use the “Format Painter” tool to copy the formatting from one part of the document to another.

Steps:

If you want to insert supporting information such as a chart, table, or image into your Microsoft Word document, you can easily do so by following these steps:

Open your Word document and place your cursor where you want to insert the supporting information.

Click on the “Insert” tab in the ribbon at the top of the screen.

Select the type of supporting information you want to insert. For example, if you want to insert a chart, click on the “Chart” option in the “Illustrations” section of the ribbon.

Choose the type of chart you want to insert, and then click “OK”.

Customize the chart to your liking, such as adding data, changing colors, or formatting the chart title and axis labels.

If you want to insert a table, click on the “Table” option in the “Tables” section of the ribbon, and then select the number of rows and columns you want.

Populate the table with your data, and then format it as desired.

If you want to insert an image, click on the “Pictures” option in the “Illustrations” section of the ribbon, and then select the image you want to insert.

Customize the image by resizing it, cropping it, or adding special effects.

To locate and select supporting information that you want to insert into your Word document, you can do the following:

Open the file that contains the supporting information you want to insert.

Use the “Find” function to locate the specific information you want to use. For example, if you are looking for a specific table in a large document, you can use the “Find” function to quickly locate it.

Once you have located the information you want to insert, select it by clicking and dragging your cursor over the relevant text or graphics.

Copy the selected information by pressing “Ctrl+C” on your keyboard, or by right-clicking and selecting “Copy”.

Return to your Word document and place your cursor where you want to insert the information.

Paste the information into your Word document by pressing “Ctrl+V” on your keyboard, or by right-clicking and selecting “Paste”.

Following these steps should enable you to easily locate, select, and insert supporting information into your Microsoft Word document.
