Learning Theories
In all theories, three basic concepts have been studied:
Stimulus: Stimulus is something that helps in encouraging the action. An action that occurs as a result of the stimulus is called response. For example, in Pavlov’s test, when a bell rings, it is defined as stimulus. As a consequence of the food that is given to a dog on ringing of the bell, the dog salivates, that is a reaction too.
Reinforcement: It is an action that can make the trainees to repeat or to avoid their behavior. In Pavlov’s test, when a dog is given the food again on ringing of the bell, it reinforces the behavior that is it salivates repeatedly on the ringing of bell, in the hope of receiving the food.
Motivation: It is the force that helps in maintaining the process of reinforcement. In Pavlov’s test, giving the food makes a dog to salivate instantly as to receive the food is an encouragement. Motivation also makes a trainee to complete the training for better services such as much higher pay, promotion or an opportunity to reach the most wanted goals.
