Dale S. Beach states that training is ‘the organized procedure by which people learn knowledge and/or skill for a definite purpose’. It refers to the teaching and learning activities that are performed for the purpose of helping the members of a company to acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for a specific job.
What is Training
Training is a basic concept of human resource development. It helps in developing a specific skill to a preferred standard by instructing and practising. Training is a very useful tool, that can help an employee in doing their job correctly, and effectively. It is an act of increasing the knowledge and skill of an employee for a specific job.
Types of Training
There are various types of training that can be used to train the employees such as induction training, refresher training, on the job training, vestibule training, and promotional training.
Some of the common types of training are listed below
Induction training
It helps the employees to know the procedures, and policies of the organization.
Job instruction training
It provides an overview of the job and skilled trainers exhibit the entire job. Then training is given to the employees after estimating their performance.
Vestibule training
It works on the actual work to be done by an employee but directed away from the company.
Refresher training
This training is given to include the latest developments in a specific field. It is provided to improve the skills of the employees.
Apprenticeship training
Apprentice workers spend a certain amount of time under a supervisor for training.
