Introduction to WiMax

WiMax stands for Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, and it is a wireless technology standard for broadband communication. It is designed to provide high-speed wireless internet access to users over a wide area.

WiMax operates on the IEEE 802.16 standard and is intended to compete with existing wired broadband technologies such as cable and DSL. It uses a point-to-multipoint architecture, which means that a single WiMax base station can provide wireless access to multiple end-user devices, such as laptops or mobile phones, within a range of several kilometers.

WiMax has a number of advantages over other wireless technologies, including higher speeds, longer ranges, and greater capacity. It is also more flexible and easier to deploy than wired technologies, as it does not require physical infrastructure such as cables or wires. WiMax can be used for a wide range of applications, including internet access, voice over IP (VoIP), and video streaming.
