Important definitions
There are certain important definitions under this, Act.
Contract Labour
When workmen are hired, in connection with the work or through a contractor. Then, they are deemed to be employed as contract labour. With or without the principal employer’s knowledge.
Controlled Industry
The declaration of the control of any industry. By any Central Act to be expedient in the public interest means the “Controlled industry.”
Appropriate Government
The meaning of “Appropriate Government” is:
Under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, in relation to an establishment. Thus, in respect of which the appropriate Government is the Central Government.
Also, in relation to any other establishment. Thus, the Government of the State, in which the location of other establishment is.
Contractor
In relation to an establishment of the “Contractor,” means a person who undertakes to produce a given result for the establishment. Other than a just mere supply of goods or articles manufacturing in such establishment. Through supplier of contract labour, or contract labour including a sub-contractor for any work of the establishment.
Establishment
The meaning of “Establishment” is any Government or local authority’s office or department. Also, any place where any industry, business, manufacture, trade or occupation carries.
Principal Employer
The Principal Employer is the one, in relation to any Government or a local authority officer. Or also a department of the head of that office, or department or such other officer. Therefore as the Government or the local authority, as the case may be, may specify in this behalf.
