Definitions
Section 2 of the Act has various definitions involved some of the definitions are given hereunder:
Apprentice
Any person undergoing the training of apprenticeship in the contract of apprenticeship’s pursuance, therefore, is called an apprentice.
Apprenticeship training
Any industry or establishment underwent a course of training in the contract of apprenticeship’s pursuance. Thus, under prescribed terms and conditions, this may be different for different categories of apprentices.
Designated trade
By notification in the Official Gazette, any trade or occupation or any subject field in engineering or technology or any vocational course. For the purposes of this Act, thus which the Central Government, after consultation with the Central Apprenticeship Council, may specify as a designated trade.
Graduate or technician apprentice
An apprentice holding a degree or diploma in technology or engineering or any equivalent qualification. Hence, undergoing training granted by any government recognized institution. Therefore, a prescription form undergoes apprenticeship training in any such subject field in engineering or technology.
Technician (vocational) apprentice
An apprentice undergoing or holding training in order to hold a certificate in a vocational course involving two years of study. After the completion of the secondary stage of school education recognised by the All-India Council. Also undergoes apprenticeship training in any such subject field in any vocational course ina prescription form.
Trade apprentice
An apprentice who undergoes apprenticeship training in any such trade or occupation. Thus, in the prescription form under the Act.
Worker
Employment of any person for wages in any kind of work. And who gets direct wages from the employer. Although, shall not include an apprentice.
