For an organization it’s very important to choose a correct data warehouse and query reporting tools as per the requirement of organization. While selecting a data management system one must take care of following activities.
- The data management system should be able handle the complete data of organization.
- It should boost up the organization performance.
- It should be “Empowered Collaboration”, i.e. should have authority to collaborate with existing system and produce or create some better result for an organization.
- It should assure the privacy of the organization. The data must be accessible to authorized persons only.
- It should be data centric (as per organization need, if organization have several branches on different geographical location), and should be able to maintain data integrity.
A data management system is composed of a Data warehouse (which in corporate database) and searching tool, which can response to query. Earlier, the organization used to save all the data in register based system or digital file based system. The problem with those systems was “Searching”. It is one of the most needed features. Searching a particular record in those systems, sometime consume the whole day or may extend to week or month depending upon organization size.
To conquer these problems, and with advance in technologies, now we are availed with digital databases. A database is an organized collection of digital data. Several database combine together to form a data warehouse. A data warehouse contains the archive data from running databases, or contains the replica of running database.
