Concentration and Attention Span

Concentration and attention span is the length of time you can focus on something till you lose interest in the information. You can pay long attention while doing an active thing rather than listening to it. You can also concentrate for long time span if you are getting entertained from what you are doing.

Here are few tips to get your attention and concentration back if you lose them:

1) Practice concentrating despite distractions.

Learning or understanding with some noise such as music or traffic, can help you to increase your concentration and attention on the topic more. While practicing, you can acquire the skills to ignore louder and more disturbing interruptions.

2) Build up your mental endurance.

You can use the technique of consistent planned periods of great exertion followed by efficient intervals of less concentrated activity. When compared to long periods of intense activity, whole stamina and performance improve rapidly.

3) Learn what you love.

This is one of the most effective ways to increase your concentration and attention span. As, when you spend your time learning skills and information you are passionate about you pay more attention and concentration.

4) Unplug!

When we get engage into more electronic media, we are left with zero level of concentration and attention span to use when we need it the most. The main purpose of the invention of electronic media is to take away all of our concentration and attention. Be more careful about the radio and TV because you are at the primary target of the marketers. At least movie channels and DVDs let you choose what to watch or not without any commercial distractions.
