Payment Of Overtime

The adult workers in a factory have fixed working hours under the factory act, 1948. There are certain rules and policies made for the well-being of the working employees in a factory. As per the factory act, section 51 no worker requires working for more than forty-eight hours in a week even if the employer insists. Thus, the workers working over the limit set by the rules shall come under the overtime tag. Therefore, payment of overtime shall be given to the workers working in a factory.

Payment Of Overtime (Section 14)

 

The section 14 of the Act states that when an employee, who has a minimum rate of wages fixed under the Act, by hours, days, months, etc. is eligible for receiving payment for the overtime. This involves the work in excess on a normal working day; the employer is liable to pay the worker for every extra hour he worked for. The appropriate Government administers the implementation of the rules. Although, the right to ask for payment for overtime is to the workers work under the minimum rate of wages and not the one who already getting the better wages.

Hence, the wages may be provided by calculating the number of hours the worker spent in a factory. It can also happen by calculating the number of hours, a particular duration, or other suggesting wage period. Thus, the payment for the overtime done by the workers shall be made. For all the workers working in a factory depending on the nature of the work.
