Globalization era

The third movement of supply chain management is the globalization era. This era is characterized by the focus given to the global system of supplier relationships and the expansion of supply chains over national boundaries and into other continents. Although many business organization have been utilizing global sources in their supply chain for a long time. It was only in the late 1980’s that many organizations started to incorporate global sources to their core business processes. The globalization era is represented by the attention paid to integrate supply chain of an organization globally with a view to reduce cost, increase competitiveness and enhance value additions.
