Procedure of Documentation

For customs clearance in international logistics and customs clearance, the most important element is accurate documentation. This helps in assuring you of your products safe delivery, providing you with the tracking details. Following are the most important factors in procedure documentation

Bill of lading for the carrier is a title document for the transportation of good as well as a contract and receipt. It has all the information needed by the carrier to transport the items. There are different types of documentation done depending on the type of goods and different policies of origin and destination country. The things to keep in mind before generating the bill of lading are – name and address of the consignor and consignee, description of the transporting goods, the commodity class and the quantities of each product, etc.

Procedure of Documentation

Freight Bill contains all the charges a carrier has incurred i.e. carrier’s invoice. It’s a freight bill and includes all the details of the shipment – total & charges, the items being shipped, the consignee, the items being shipped, the origins and the destination.

some carriers can ask for pre-payment from the shipper if the expected freight charges are more than the value of the items being shipped.

The carrier will present the freight bill on the day of delivery if the charges aren’t prepaid, presenting a freight bill on collect by the carrier.
