Zero Hour Contracts

Zero Hour Contracts

What are Zero Hour Contracts??

Whenever a worker and an employer enter into a contract in which workers are given no guarantee about what amount of work they will be required to do and for how many hours, it is known as a zero hour contract. Under such contracts, a worker can be called anytime to do a given job. Neither the employer is made to give work to the workers nor the workers are forced to accept the offer for work they are made.

Such contracts are adopted by the companies when they find themselves unable to shed their costs as their workers are either permanent or work by fixed contracts. So the companies are induced to accept zero wage contracts. Due to the flexibility of work in such contracts, they are set to go on for a long period of time in future. So today, many individuals like to work as a freelancer.

Moreover, now employees are no more required to be present physically in the office, they can even work from home and the only thing required to have is internet connectivity so they can work online. There are no geographical barriers to work according to zero wage contracts.
