Versatility at its best: Job rotation

Versatility with its various synonyms including resourcefulness, adaptability and flexibility is the one thing we can surely use in this dynamic epoch. Where nothing is fixed, can you be sure your job at the present position will be constant?

At present times where we have overqualified people applying for every job profile, every HR department wants the best. While experts may have had their fair share of days in fame and fortune, the tables have turned. Now it’s time for people who have tasted every medicine to shine. The era for versatility is upon us. Who wants a man who can do one job at a time when we have people who understand the know-how of every field!

To describe job versatility, we can loosely say that it involves training and hiring of workers who can work for more than one field or industry or organization. While the numbers of such people increase day by day, we are left with no choice but to expand our horizons and step into the vast world of knowing everything.

One of the most fool-proof way of achieving this, either with the help of the organization or on your own personal account, is job rotation. You can switch fields within the firm like from HR to marketing to sales. This makes you a loyal asset for the company but requires a lot of hard work and a good networking circle.

If you’re not keen on taking the high road, you can always go intra-firm and though it might be a lot more exhausting, may prove to cost a lot of time and money and almost certainly has no guarantee of success, it’s still a considerable choice.

While the experience you gain and the knowledge you receive last a lifetime, it might be a lot more time consuming that you intended it to be. But to keep up with the pace of the fast moving world, you have to run faster.
