Arvind Kejriwal government is yet again preparing itself to face the litmus test as it prepares to present the final budget in the assembly in the first week of June. And just like from the very beginning, it has promised to deliver every solution by merging the social and political culture together, it has displayed that streak of combining the two again.
Calling it as participatory budgeting exercise, AAP is bringing another wave of change when it comes to decision making. With decentralizing the budgeting plan to the very grassroots, it has planned to select few constituencies on a pilot basis to take the ideas, opinion and suggestions of the common man of Delhi in framing the Delhi budget.
AAP will be starting this from Sunday with the Patparganj assembly constituency which is deputy chief minister Manish Sisodiaโs constituency. This Sabha will be chaired by AAP supremo and Delhi Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal. The same process will be followed in 11 other constituencies before tabling of the much awaited final budget.
Also for the purpose of the budget, Delhi has been divided into 12 segments and rupees 20 crore will be allotted to each. Further, each segment will be divided into 40 parts and each will get 50 lakh rupees.
This sabha will see the voters proposing local issues to be taken up in their areas for the first two hours followed by the voting on individual items in the last one hour. The voting will help prioritize the tasks as per the number of votes.
AAP government has indeed taken a brave step by taking the common man into the picture of budget planning which has never been done before. Letโs see how well this gets implemented and how well the new budget delivers. Fingers crossed till then! ๐
