Sustainable development
Sustainable development is the process of development which aims at maintaining the quality of life of both present and future generation without harming natural resources and environment otherwise this will effect to the economic development. For example : excessive mining of iron; coal; gold; silver; and extraction of crude oil has lead to depletion of their stock. Smoke and other injurious emission from factories and transport vehicle has lead to pollution of environment. Economic development; thus has definitely compounded the problem of environmental degradation and pollution.
Main features of sustainable development are :-
1) There should be sustained rise in real per capita income and economic welfare over time.
2) sustainable development doesn’t mean that natural resources should not be used at all. It all simply means that natural resources be rationally used in a manner such that they are excessively exploited.
3) It works works with the aim of raising the existing standard of living in such a way as not to reduce ability of the future generation to meet their own needs.
4) It discard those activities which in order to maintain existing high standard of living; prove detrimental to natural resources and environment.
Thus sustainable development doesn’t mean check on existing pace of economic growth. It only means a judicious and optimum utilisation if resources and in a manner such that the pace of growth is sustained with inter-generative equity.
