RECRUITMENT

 The success of the organisation depends on the people working in it . An organisation to achieve its goal needs to recruit the best people .

Recruitment is the process of making available the prospective employees to fill different vacant posts in the organisation . It involves searching and motivating persons to apply for a particular job in an organisation . The organisation makes efforts to ensure that more and more people give applications so that the deserving candidates can be selected . The process of recruitment is said to be a positive process as it involves attracting people .

A systematic process for hiring the employees brings a superior workforce for the company . Recruitment process begins after determining a need for a new or replaced position . The managers of all the departments brings to the notice of the personnel managers , the need for hiring the employees. According to his knowledge , the personnel manager decides about the sources of making available the suitable persons . Personnel manager looks after the details of the required jobs , for eg- number of vacancies , qualification , experience , nature of job etc… After receiving the applications , the same are put for verification . A list of the applicants who fulfill all the qualifications required for the particular job is prepared . Then , the selection process begins .

Human resource manager keeps the record of the process of recruitment and selection . Identification of the source of recruitment is an important step for hiring the employees . Business organisation usually have two kinds of sources that are internal and external .

Internal sources means filling vacancies from within the organisations which has some benefits as well as limitations . Internal sources involves transfer from one department to the other department , promotion , from lower rank to upper rank and lay off , temporary separation of an employee . Internal sources helps in increasing motivation of the employees . They are beneficial for the organisation because it helps in establishing industrial people in the organisation and are also an economical medium . But , at the same time internal sources are not appropriate because organisation will have a limited choice , conflicts may arise , lack of competiton etc…

External sources involves inviting applications from outside the organisation . External sources may be through direct recruitment , advertising , placement agencies , campus recruitment etc… External recruitment also serves with the merits and limitations . External sources are beneficial because they provide a wider choice of qualified personnel whereas they contribute to the wrong selection sometimes . Recruiting people through external sources is a bit lengthy and costly process for an organisation .

On concluding , it can be said that recruiting the best employees for an organisation is an ongoing challenge for every manager . So , it should be done carefully .
