Normalization brings down the hopes of many

Of late, a complicated process called ‘normalization’ was devised to bring all boards at par. The idea behind the whole process of normalization was to factor in results of Class XII with JEE (Main) scores so as to facilitate the admissions to NITs and central government technical institutes. It was believed that a high JEE (Advanced) score was not enough for an IIT seat, an extra factor of Class XII result inclusion was added, which required the student to be in the top 20 percentile of his/her Board result.  The complicated two-tier system has created confusion since then and has blown off the dreams of many IIT-aspirants.
