Media as an escape from reality

We give theorist less credit than they deserve media theorist have extensively worked on detailed theories to explain media orientation and today those  theories to those who know them, have become mantras to success and the others like you and me, the unsuspecting public “genres” which we so whole heatedly love . Each genre has a character if we watch closely and that character relates to a certain kind of personality like the Salman Khan movies relate to the common man who is full of fun catch phrases and deals with issues up front.

While  Sarukhan related to romance and decency back in the day.

To theories they are all media orientation. We use media to escape from reality or personify ourselves. It’s like a dirty desire, we aspire to be someone who we become in those 3 hour .

Similarly the movies which identify with more of the genres or say personalities like The twilight saga become a success. The movie is a perfect e.g. The movie has different  genres in a single character which makes him/her identifiable to a larger audience for e.g.:

• The love story identifies with the romance genre
• Vampire to the supernatural
• And the courage of Bella to an empowered women
• The emphasis on family to the unity genre
• And for those who identify with each it’s a heaven.

These unsuspecting facts are what leads to fandom and the blurring of lines between reality and fiction and  create and impression on the minds of the people, are formula to hits and blockbusters.

But what it really ravels  is how we use media as an escape for reality and to an extent a way of communication of one personified and in some cases true personality.
