Japan’s Maglev train breaks world speed record

Just after a few days again, Japan comes under the limelight once more for demonstrating prowess in high speed rail travel with its Maglev train.

Getting its name from magnetic levitation, Maglev trains use electronically charged magnets to lift and move the carriage. Just few days back, this same train broke its own 12 year record by reaching a top speed of 590 km/h as compared to 581 km/h in 2003. This Tuesday, it further reached a top speed of 603 km/h along a test track near Mount Fuji.

This train covered 1.8 km in just under 11 seconds, creating a world record. The passengers who are excited to experience the thrill have to wait for long, before they finally get to ride on this super fast train.

After creating an amazing record, Japan is looking forward to selling its high speed rail technology overseas, as an attempt to boost its exports and thereby displaying to the world that it is for a reason that it is the world’s third largest economy.

Also, during his visit to US later this month, PM Shinzo Abe plans to promote construction of high speed rail between New York and Washington. If he is successful, then it’ll be of great benefit to both US and Japan.

So, a new record has been set. No wonder, Japanese people must be rejoicing after this great news! 😀
