Human resource is as significant a resource as any, even more important. It’s only this resource that can improve, alter or completely transform the present and future of any industry. While the vitality of human resource is undeniable, its management and planning is all the more challenging due to the covertness. You cannot have clearly defined rules when it comes to human beings as every individual is different and unique in more ways than possible. You cannot know who’s’ honest and who is a severe case of schizophrenic psychosis. So building a structure, where these diverse creatures work together in harmony, is a mission by its very definition.
Like every other edifice, we have a blueprint for human resource management, which we conveniently call human resource planning. This involves a set of basic theories, rules and regulations, some of which are common to a geography or industry type but mostly unique for every organization, or in some extreme cases, even individual offices. What they achieve is the fulfillment of every HR goal. From the wheres, whys and whos to the whens and hows, it answers all your problems. All you need is a strategy that is suitable to your working environment.
Not only are they just plans and answers, the gap between the required and available workforce, the quality of work, working hours, employee satisfaction, harmony and discipline are all under the umbrella of human resource planning. HR department is not only limited to that, but it also has to support organizational strategies and goals.
After all the plotting, you need to have a majority consensus among the staff. Establishment of an effective communication channel and an open door policy is a task of its own. Also, formation and execution of rules require legislative paperwork and not to forget the various evaluations that are in every HR manager’s job description.
But, with the correct theories and experiments, creating a satisfactory working environment is what HR department has to do.
