Woman is the lifeline on which a family breath freewheels. Many families institute a community, then a city, then a state and at a long last a country. How weighing down is it to agonize that this women draws her hands back when contributing towards the Gross Domestic Product of the country. The recent quarterly GDP report of India shows that we progressed by 7.2%. Ironical is the fact that women are just retrograding this pace. Let’s anatomise the given indicants:
- The sex ratio in India is 877/1000
- The literacy rate amongst women id 65.46% compared to 82.14% amongst men.
- Women’s contribution towards GDP – 22%
- Contribution by urban women in workforce= 0.5 the contribution of rural women in workforce
Each year about 18% women employed in the corporate sector jilt their jobs. Almost half of the women who affiliate themselves to the organised sector leave their jobs mid career levels with majority quitting work within 25 and 35 years of age. This is an uprooter of skilled resources the country can ill afford. Women missing from workforce dawdles the GDP of India by 5 -7%. The major perplexing grounds of concern are lack of flexible work hours, marriage, childcare, family pressure and sex discrimination at work. The social issue of equality costs the nation financially heavily. The problem can be solved by helping the lady in striking a balance between professional and family life . it can be done by giving a better working environment, maternity and paternity leave and flexible working hours option.

I feel the problem also lies in not recognizing women’s household work in GDP of the country. Although, if women go out and work that same work(household) will be done by other hired people and then it will be counted. So why not take its imputed value as well.
I would like to correct you, but sex ratio in India is somewhere near 940/1000 . It may be that you are talking about a few specific Indian states.
I was quite amazed by the title.. When I read the content then realized the context..Very thoughtful content

The contribution of women in GDP is very important , but due to some reasons ( mentioned above ) they are not contributing much to the GDP of the country. The other members of the family can play an important role by helping women in maintaining a work life balance !
Informative!
