Employees Development – why watching over the most critical aspect of the organization pays
Employees Development refers to developing the skills and knowledge of employees not only with the sole motive to organisation’s benefit but with the view to overall growth of the employee.
“ Employee development is a joint, on-going effort on the part of an employee and the organization for which he or she works to upgrade the employee’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Successful employee development requires a balance between an individual’s career needs and goals and the organization’s need to get work done. “ – University Of Minnesota
To understand the importance of Employees development lets explain it with an example. Suppose there is an organisation named as A ltd. There are 1000 employees within that organisation. Initially the organisation was able to earn sufficient amount of profits but later on there was a decline in its performance. All the employees were hard working and were doing their level best. and their was no fault in company’s procedures and policies as they were following the same policies which they were using at the time of earning profits.
So after a long research they found out the reason and the reason was that though the employees were working at their 100 % but still their skills and efficiency were not enough to match the current market situation. There was a need to develop the skills capabilities and the knowledge of the employees. There was a need to provide them such a training so that they were able to work according to the current market situations.
The importance of Employees Development is clearly explained above. It is very important for any organisation to develop the skills of the employees as employees are the biggest assets of any organisation and their growth can be considered as overall organisation’s growth. By developing the skills and efficiency of the employees the company is actually investing in on its own because these collective efficiency will increase the capability level of organisation as a whole.
