Today there’s no arena where there is no competition, be it schools, colleges, work places, markets, fashion segment, sports et al. Competition to outdo the other, to express one’s superiority, to get the limelight, to get admission to one’s choice of college and for almost everything else, competition breeds around us..right? And because of this, one can’t help but be a part of this rat race! 😛
These days a person is conditioned with a sense of competition right from the time when they are very young. And it is even necessary to do it because that is what the society demands! The “survival of the fittest” has not just become an off repeated phrase, but the very reality of today’s society!
Healthy competition is one without mudslinging, without being envious of others, and focusing on one’s own growth rather than putting other’s down. If seen from a positive angle, one would observe that healthy competition becomes a springboard for any individual’s growth, as that is what motivates a person to work harder than others, to work on their weaknesses, learn and develop new skills, in all contributing to overall growth in life. While if there was no competition in the society, one would lack motivation to do better than what one has done. And since competition is almost pervasive, therefore, whatever field one may choose, one is compelled to work hard to make a spot for oneself.
On the flip side, this competition and all the pressure it brings along, can have a negative impact on people’s lives too! We’ve seen enough examples in the past, like how students commit suicide when they can no longer cope up with the pressure of meeting the needs of the competitive world, or how adults go into depression because of cruel competition and the subsequent politics at work places.
So, if we wish to do well in life, then we have to face this competition, no matter what. But what’s important is that we take this competition in a healthy and appropriate manner, so that it does the best to us and helps us bring out the best in us.
Remember, if the world is full of competition, then you too are no less than a champ! You just need to work hard and bring that champ out for everyone else to see! Be true to yourself and give your best in every way. That’s how you’ll succeed. 😀
Good luck for all your endeavors! 😉
