Some of the common mistakes done by job seekers during interviews are:
Showing disinterest: Many a times we are unable to find the correct reason behind not getting selected in an interview. Body language and how you respond to the interviewer shows your interest and inclination towards the job. You must be attentive, maintain eye contact and respond thoughtfully.
Using Mobile Phone: Do you switch off you mobile when going for the interview? You must turn off your mobile as soon as you enter the location, do not risk the chances of getting the job just because you wanted to check you mobile phone. Focus your attention on the interview.
Dressing inappropriately: It is not that important what you wear on the job as it differs from industry to industry but you must dress professionally when going for the interview, so that the focus is on the job being applied for rather than concentrating on the clothing.
Criticizing present or previous employer: It is very important to keep your calm and stay positive during the interview. You must concentrate on what you have learnt from the previous job that you can use in your current role. Even though your past experience was not positive, keep your answers short and end on a positive note.
Missing on the first impression: Failure to make eye contact, missing on the smile, unusual body language and weak handshakes are a signal of wrong first impression. All of us are stressed at the time of interview but what is important is to prepare yourself mentally and be confident & friendly with the employer.
Not proving your worth: You must prove your worth for the job by showing your creativity and capability. It is therefore suggested to provide quantifiable proof of your worth.
