Website Testing
A process for evaluating the conformance of a site to an agreed set of guidelines. The aim of it is that the website is able to perform all its operation in a reputed and able manner. The purpose of testing is to ensure your website is capable of operating to a minimum acceptable standard, in order to meet the Goals that have been set for it. It is also a major event or role in the website development. If you created a website and hadn’t tested it for bugs and other discrepancies, It’s not worth of creating any website. Website Testing encompasses many areas — ranging from simple spell checking to a full security review. For convenience, these can be grouped into a catalogue that lists all appropriate methodologies.
Code Testing : It tests that the codes used are according to the international standards. It is an important testing task.
Design Testing : It tests that all pages conform to the website’s preferred layout and design. It is also an important task to be done at website design.
Spelling Testing : It tests that HTML and other code has been inserted in an optimal manner. It also tests that all codes are according to international standards.
Hyperlink Testing: It tests that all links to all documents and assets resolve correctly. This is an important and crucial testing step.
Page Weight Testing It ensures that all pages conform to the maximum allowed page weight.
Browser Testing : It ensures that the website displays correctly across target browsers and Operating Systems.
Usability Testing :It ensures that the website is accordance with proper usability. It is the key step in website development.
Accessibility Testing : It ensures that the website obeys stated level of accessibility outlined in the organisation’s Web Accessibility Policy. These policies are according to international standards.
Security Testing : It tests that the website operates with minimum risk in a secure environment. It also looks to the security aspect of a website.
Functional Testing :It tests that the website operates as expected under normal and error inducing conditions. Performance Testing :This tests the responsiveness of the website to user actions.
Website Standards Review : It reviews the website against the organisation’s Website Standard.
Operational Monitoring :It puts in place procedures for the ongoing monitoring of the site.
