Think of chocolate and it makes your mouth water. Well, it has a number of benefits.
Chocolate is made up of cocoa beans which are the dried seeds of the tree “Theobroma Cacao” which means “food of the gods”.
The cocoa beans are the basis of chocolate. They contain polyphenols with antioxidant properties which do not allow the formation of free radicals in our body and thus saves us from a number of diseases.
Chocolate also contains theobromine, phenylethylamine and caffeine which not only helps in improving our concentration level but also makes our mind sharp. It also contains an element named tryptophan whose derivative serotonin is a neurotransmitter which gives you a feeling of delight and happiness.
Chocolate is also considered good for heart as it contain flavonoids which are best known fortheir antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits and also support cardiovascular system and nervous system.
Dark Chocolates are considered to be very nutritious and a powerful source of antioxidants. They also help in controlling and improving the blood pressure.
A study at Harvard University found that people who eat chocolate three times a month may live almost a year longer than those who do not. But don’t forget that anything in excess is poison. A chocolate is rich in sugar and calories and can be harmful if consumed in plenty. 22 pounds of chocolate is considered to be lethal for a human being.
So eat in moderation and live a happy and healthy life.
