Industrial Safety and Standardization in SMEs

Safety and Standardization implies Higher Growth and Development of SMEs, lead to at par with Global Competition

Occupation Health and Safety (OHS) or Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) are prime concern of government in accordance to achieve ‘Make in India’ policy with Zero Defect &Zero Effect ideology.   The OSH is the science of anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of hazards arising in or from the workplace that could impair health and well being of workers. The number of occupational accidents is increasing in countries where adequate enforcement and regulatory mechanism to suit the local conditions are not effective. We have around 80 % of all ILO standards and instruments are either wholly or partly concerned with issues related with OSH. 

In accordance to re-frame the policy at work place the government encouraging the National Policy on Safety, Health and Environmental concerns to be enacted equally in all sectors of industries especially SMEs. In order to appreciate the industries various safety awards are being conferred by government to promote the safety culture in industry. Awards include Prime Minister’s Shram Awards (PMSA), Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar & National Safety Awards.

ISO helps organizations to implement the safety measures, quality and environmental assurance concern.Various quality management related environmental management, services and product are being regulated with series of ISO 9001 &14001. These series will satisfy customer quality requirements and help to achieve continual improvement.  Its sets standards that helps organization to took proactive approach to manage resources and services. ISO is helping to meet the challenge of climate with standards for green house accounting, verification and emission trading, and for measuring carbon foot print. It has develop 570 International standards for monitoring of such aspects as the quality of air,water and soil as well as noise, radiation and transportation of dangerous goods.
