Well, the good thing is that technology has made the world a smaller place, where talking to a person sitting miles away is just another simple thing and getting information on anything is just a click away! Right?
But at the same time, technology, social media, applications etc have also impacted the lives of people in a negative way. Are you the kind who starts the day by checking your whatsapp messages or emails? Do you also often hear complains for frequently checking your phone while in a conversation ? If that’s the case, then you fit the category of technology hooked people perfectly. They say it right, that anything used beyond moderation does us no good. And that’s exactly what’s happening to most of us.
Cell phones, laptops, ipods, tablets, further all of them equipped with multiple applications like whatsapp, instagram, facebook, games etc have all made our lives so busy that we hardly find time for simple pleasures of life. We have literally forgotten what life was without them. It’s such a common sight that a group of people, though sitting with each other are talking less amongst themselves, because all of them are simply busy with texting or maybe playing candy crush. Social media is definitely bringing people who are distant from us close, but a closer look reveals that it is also the cause of differences among couples, parents and kids.
Technology has not left the kids too. Kids our age, who should be engaged in activities like playing outdoors, cycling, reading storybooks etc are now glued to these apps, ipods and games. It’s good to see that little minds know how to use these complex gadgets and apps at such a young age but when these same things start to distract them from studying or hampers their personality development then it becomes necessary to check their usage. Teenagers especially are more concerned about managing their facebook profile and whatsapp status today than to check their own skill set in life. This adversely affects their growth, eyesight, thought process and ultimately their whole personalities.
Social media and technology has also made all of us so obsessed with sharing our lives with the world! It’s so funny at times that people are so busy trying to show the world what they’re busy doing, that they almost forget to actually enjoy in the moment. We’ve forgotten what it was like to just sit with a friend and talk, rather than get all busy with clicking selfies, what it was like to sit alone and listen to soothing music for hours than to glue yourself to facebook and whatsapp.
The idea to have all these applications, gadgets etc is to make life a little more fun and not to completely consume us. So, my friends, it’s time we realize this and use these in a moderate way so that they affect our lives in a positive way and add that extra fun element to it.
