1. Take the initiative in maintaining good relations
While you can’t expect to “hit it off with each team member – and team member may not all get along well with each other – it’s up to you to strive for good relations. Never assume that everything is fine if team member don’t come to you with problems or complaints Strike up a conversation, and fine out how things are going .When problems between people do occur, call the people together to clear the air – the sooner the better.

2. Let team members know how they’re to doing.
Offer praise when due. Praise costs little, but it pays off handsomely. Recognition in front of others can be welcome, although it won’t suit everyone. If you need to criticize someone’s work, do so tactfully and constructively. Don’t wait for an annual appraisal interview to comment on someone’s work. Regular guidance can help team members realize their potential – and they’re naturally curious about how they’re doing.

3. Tailor your approach to each team member.
Remember that each team member is an individual. Assign work according to each member’s interests and abilities, whenever possible and practical. Keep in mind each team member’ s need and career goals, too provide incentives or rewards that will appeal to the team meme – recognition or a chance for greater responsibility, for example. Whenever possible, offer advice, training or coaching to help each team member develop in his or her chosen career path

4. Keep team members challenge and motivated
Whenever possible, liven up work by varying assignments, increasing responsibilities, or asking for ideas or opinions (even if no one offers any) Give work assignments which will stretch, team members’ abilities, but which are not so challenging that they’re unrealistic.
