Training and development of employees in a organization forms an essential process for continued growth of employees skills and knowledge as well as sustain company’s growth in ever-changing external environment.
Human Resource managers play a key role in assessing the need of training and development for employees as per the changes in world or consumer market. In many cases, human resource personnel will be responsible for providing training. In other, training will be provided by qualified individuals from within the organization or experts from outside. Some skills training may also be carried out by experienced team members.
Two crucial aspects of assessing training needs of employees are
1. Know your staff’s training needs.
For example, if your organization purchases new equipment, employees will need to be trained to use the equipment safely and efficiently. Don’t leave training to chance. If you do, valuable time will be wasted and accidents could happen.
2. Be aware of individual development needs.
Employees are most productive – and satisfied – when they can use their abilities to the full. Take time to learn about each team member’s work goals. Discuss ways in which the person could achieve those goals.
