Laptop
A laptop is a personal computer designed for mobility, incorporating most of the same components as a desktop. This includes a display, keyboard, touchpad (or trackpad), pointing stick, and speakers, all integrated into a single compact unit. Laptops are powered by an AC adapter when plugged in and can operate on battery power when unplugged. They are also known as notebook computers or netbooks.
Originally, portable computers, which were monochrome CRT-based, served niche markets like military applications, accounting, and sales. As these devices evolved to become smaller, lighter, more affordable, and more powerful—along with improvements in screen size and quality—laptops transitioned into widespread use for a variety of applications.
