One may get crazy with thousands of ofTwitter API applications and third party software and some time knowing or without knowing may grant twitter account access to many of these. Some of these applications later on may mess up with your twitter accounttime line. Especially there are many spam applications which claim to get you many followers. In fact these these applications later use your account information and time line to spread their own messages. If some time you feel you are a victim any such unwanted or spam application and there is no clear way to disassociate with that application do not be panic as there are still ways to get rid of these.

How to block twitter external applications. 
1. Some applications store your user name and password in their own database and use these from time to time to access your account and time line. So the best thing is to change your password immediate.

Log in to your twitter account.
2. Co to Settings Tab
3. Now further go to Connection Tab
4. Here you will find the list of applications you have granted access.
5. Now revoke the access to the applications you do not want.
