Duplicating machine
A duplicating machine is a device used to make multiple copies of a document or image. It works by using a stencil, which is a thin sheet of material (such as wax or paper) with a design or image cut out of it. The stencil is placed on a drum, and ink is applied to the stencil using a roller or brush. As the drum rotates, paper is fed through the machine, and the ink from the stencil is transferred onto the paper, creating a copy.
There are several types of duplicating machines, including:
Mimeograph: This is a type of duplicating machine that was commonly used in the past. It works by transferring ink from a waxed stencil onto paper using a rotating drum.
Spirit duplicator: This type of duplicating machine uses a sheet of paper coated with a layer of wax and a special type of ink. The original document is placed on top of the waxed paper, and pressure is applied to transfer the ink onto the wax. Copies are made by pressing blank sheets of paper onto the waxed paper.
Photocopier: A photocopier, also known as a copier, is a more modern type of duplicating machine that uses a combination of heat and light to transfer toner onto paper. Photocopiers are faster and more efficient than older duplicating machines, and can produce higher-quality copies.
Duplicating machines are commonly used in offices, schools, and other organizations to produce multiple copies of documents, forms, and other materials. They are useful for creating handouts, flyers, and other materials that need to be distributed to a large number of people. While modern technology has largely replaced traditional duplicating machines, they are still used in some contexts, particularly in areas where electricity and other resources are scarce.
Duplication refers to the process of replication done with the help of stencil duplicators. The stencil that has been cut with the help of typewriter/dot matrix printer is fixed on the Cylinder. The machine is switched ON once the ink has been spread on the stencil.
