Identify the CPU

There are many ways to identify which CPU the PC is using which are –

  • CPU Markings – Open the chassis cover and access the CPU and view the markings inscribed on the top of it Marking by manufacturer is code which illustrate the details and capabilities of the CPU and can be submitted to their websites for identification
  • By Operating System – In Windows right click ‘My Computer’ icon, click properties, and in System Properties window under General Tab the CPU detail is shown and in Linux type the command – cat /proc/cpuinfo.
  • Using utility software – Utilities are available which identify the CPU like Cpu-z.
