Watch and Evaluate Formulas

Watch and Evaluate Formulas

In Microsoft Excel, you can watch and evaluate formulas to ensure that they are performing as expected. Here’s how to do it:

Watch formulas: Watching formulas allows you to see the values of all cells used in a formula, as well as the result of the formula itself. To watch a formula, select the cell that contains the formula you want to watch, and click on “Watch Window” under the “Formulas” tab. Excel will open a new window that shows the current value of each cell used in the formula, as well as the result of the formula.

Evaluate formulas: Evaluating formulas allows you to step through a formula one calculation at a time, to see how each part of the formula contributes to the final result. To evaluate a formula, select the cell that contains the formula you want to evaluate, and click on “Evaluate Formula” under the “Formula Auditing” tab. Excel will open a new window that shows the current state of the formula, as well as the value of any intermediate calculations.

By using these tools in Excel, you can easily check your formulas for accuracy and troubleshoot any errors that you encounter. This can help you to create more reliable and efficient spreadsheets.
