Input, Output and Storage Devices

In data entry or computer basics, input, output, and storage devices are essential components of a computer system.

Input devices are used to enter data or information into a computer. Examples of input devices include a keyboard, mouse, scanner, microphone, and touchpad. These devices convert physical inputs into digital signals that can be processed by the computer’s hardware and software.

Output devices are used to present processed data or information from a computer. Examples of output devices include a monitor, printer, speakers, and headphones. These devices convert digital signals into physical outputs that can be perceived by the user.

Storage devices are used to store data or information on a computer. Examples of storage devices include a hard disk drive (HDD), solid-state drive (SSD), USB flash drive, and memory card. These devices store digital data in a non-volatile form, meaning that the data remains even after the computer is turned off.

Input, output, and storage devices are interconnected and work together to perform various computer-related tasks. For example, an input device such as a keyboard is used to enter data into a computer, which is then processed by the computer’s hardware and software. The processed data is then stored on a storage device such as a hard disk drive, and can be retrieved and presented using an output device such as a monitor or printer.
