Editable Region

Editable regions in Dreamweaver CS5 are specific sections of a web page that can be modified by content authors or website administrators without affecting the rest of the page’s design or structure.

To create an editable region in Dreamweaver CS5, you must first define a template for the page. Within that template, you can designate certain areas as editable regions by selecting the desired section of the page and applying the “Edit > Template Properties” command. This will open a dialog box where you can specify the name of the editable region and its properties.

Once you have created an editable region, you can update its content as needed by opening the page based on the template, selecting the editable region, and typing in new content. Any changes made to the editable region will be reflected in the live web page, but the surrounding content and design will remain unchanged. Editable regions are useful for allowing multiple users to update different parts of a website without compromising the overall design and layout. They are commonly used for elements such as headlines, images, and text blocks that are likely to change frequently.
