Risk Regulation

The recognition of the benefits offered by derivatives markets led primarily to encouraging improvements in internal risk management, transparency and the infrastructure of markets.

The revised Basle Capital Accord allows banks that meet certain standards to use internal ‘Value-at-risk’ measurement systems for capital adequacy purpose supplemented by model validation and stress testing exercises. New official initiatives were undertaken to promote transparency at both the micro and macro levels.
