Earlier, the foreign firms were satisfying there needs for market expansion by owning subsidiaries in the international market. But now the cross border M&A have become the most popular for market expansion in the international sector for the firms. This was as a result of financial liberalization policies, government policies and regional agreements.
Reallocation of capital across firms occurs through either sale of property, plant, equipment or through M&A. In case of cross-border M&A, the main activities of the acquirer and the target firm are registered in two different countries.
